u`u Home i Pupukea
(My Home In Pupukea)     Translation

So beautiful is my home in Pupukea
This home beloved
Delightful to visitors
They shall be at peace if they come

Famous is my home, beloved Pupukea
Winds blowing gently from the sea
This is mine to give to you
My home, my home, in paradise

There is love in the house
At Pupukea, the place where she lives
My dream house
The peace of Pupukea

It is good, I have come here
To rest, to live idly, and to play
That is the right (thing), living wisely
In my home, my home in Pupukea

In 1973, Miss Fern Hayes, a good friend of Keith & Carmen, built a new home on the North Shore of O`ahu, a home in which she planned to retire (and did). This song was Keith & Carmen's housewarming gift to Fern. All who know Fern Hayes do indeed delight in visits to this beautiful home, her dream house. Although Keith had written melodies and lyrics, this was the first complete song he wrote.
